This plant is native to Southeast Asia, particularly Vietnam. It is reported to have a wealth of medicinal qualities with benefits for Alzheimer’s, blood pressure, inflammation, and diabetes. It is also popular in Thai cuisine. It can grow 4 to 5 feet tall, likes a lot of water and partial sun to full shade. Hoan ngoc is frost sensitive so either keep it in a pot which can be moved inside for winter or create a microclimate to protect it from the cold.
